2D Lessons - Icebreakers
With a little more specialisation comes some assessment of where we are at, the new term allowed me to orientate myself more for 2D art (the more concepty side) as this is the kind of art that i prefer to do, and through that we needed to get a judge of how our skill levels were.
For this, within the 2 hour session we had (more like 1hour 40 by the end of the intro of our lecturer talking) , we were tasked with doing 2 quick drawings; one of a diorama style of room view and a character in 3/4 view.

Considering i did the room first as i wanted to get my weakest aspect done first i was more pleased than i expected with the results of this drawing.
the idea for this room quickly went to a sort of madman's hideout, someone obsessed with patriotism in the USA in a world where the US didn't exist anymore. I wanted to get this feeling of desperation and madness from the environment, so things like the grate being the only window, weapons carefully stacked and arranged in the room and a conspiracy theory kind of board all giving an indication of who might live here.
I quite liked doing this kind of view as well, this self contained kind of set that you can fill with whatever you want. and like i said i'm kind of happy that it came out not terrible, guess all that environment work i had to do last term came in handy.
However my character came out a little... roughly. guess i need more practice here, but nevertheless the idea became a knight of some kind (mainly because i had my assessment on the mind as wanted some practice in knights) the proportioning for the base figure came out well, so that was getting better but i was indecisive on how to make the armour and so it came out rather rushed, that and i'd wish i could have splashed some colour onto him.
regardless i was rather happy with this introductory session, i have a long way to go but i feel like i am at least showing improvements and getting used to digital drawing more and more.
For our parting assignment we were asked to compose a poster/sheet of artists that influence us the most, so i will likely be posting that later so i can go on a huge tirade about cool people drawing things.
